History
Miguel Angel Marroquin was born in San Diego on December 27, 1975. He was raised in a Catholic home alongside his older sister and younger brother. He spent the majority of his childhood living in different areas of South San Diego and San Ysidro until the family eventually settled in Chula Vista, CA. He attended Chula Vista Chula Vista High School, where he met his future wife, and graduated in 1994. After high school, he bounced back and forth from Northern and Southern California for a few years until he married his high school sweetheart in 1998. He and Robin decided to settle back in Chula Vista and had their first child in 2000.
In 2001, at the age of 25, Angel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Camp Pendleton where he served honorably for 4 years with 1st FSSG/1st TSB as a Motor Vehicle Operator. As a Marine, Angel participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom where he received a Combat Action Medal in 2003. At the end of his 4-year contractual obligation he applied and received a position with the United States Border Patrol. In March 2006, he began his career as a Border Patrol Agent in El Paso, Texas where he currently continues serving his country protecting the nation’s southern border.
Short Testimony
Around the age of 20, Angel accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and began attending Calvary Chapel San Diego (CCSD). At CCSD he served as a youth leader/mentor for two years, up until the day he went to boot camp. Unfortunately, Angel began to make some reckless choices that eventually led him to walk away from God. After almost 10 years of sin and rebelliousness, Angel found himself on the verge of losing his family and career. In the summer of 2010, having hit his “rock bottom”, he stopped running away from God and surrendered himself over to Him. Thereafter, God displayed His abounding love, grace, and mercy to Angel by restoring his marriage and career. In addition, God revealed the plan and calling He had for him.
Call to Ministry
Upon moving to El Paso in 2006, the Marroquin family began attending Calvary Chapel Sun City under the teaching ministry of Pastor Terry Gray. However, it wasn’t until Angel’s rededication that he began serving in 2010 as a youth leader, mentor, and Bible teacher. Towards the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, Angel began to hear God’s call to start and lead a church but felt further spiritual growth and additional preparation was needed. So, in September 2012, he applied and was accepted into Moody Bible Institute Distant Learning Program and began his ministry education. Three years later, in 2015, he completed his studies at MBI DLP and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies. Within that time, in 2013, the church leadership asked Angel to serve alongside them as a church elder. Humbled and honored, he gladly accepted. On Father’s Day 2016 he planted Fresh Vision Church in the northeast area of El Paso.
Family and Hobbies
Angel married his high school sweetheart, Robin, in 1998. They have 3 beautiful children together: Jacob (21), Anthony (17), and Bella (12). Some of his hobbies include spending time with family, listening to music, reading and listening to books, and studying the Bible.
